Coast

Rosslare Strand

There was no better time to visit the sunny south east than during a heatwave! My travelling companion and I booked into Coast, Rosslare Strand for 2 nights on a B&B basis requesting an upper floor room. From the initial booking stage to arrival, we found the staff very friendly and helpful. There is free parking provided although I would suggest making a reservation at the time of booking.

Its cool and contemporary décor gave the hotel a very tranquil and laid back atmosphere. When we opened the door of our room, it was quite obvious it was only open a short time as everything was sparkling with that brand new scent! The carpet was a nice soft pile and the room ambience with muted grey tones throughout was beautiful. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room very spacious. There is no air conditioning but the windows open a safe distance and we did not find this an issue. With free WiFi and complimentary toiletries, flat screen TV, tea/coffee making facilities, robe and slippers we were very pleased with the standard of service! Also a nice touch to offer complimentary newspapers at reception.

Coast is a small hotel with 32 rooms and we were located on the 2nd floor facing the front of the hotel. It is situated in the heart of Rosslare Strand village and 5 minutes walking distance to a beautiful Blue Flag beach. Its also only 450 m from the train station and only 20 minutes drive into Wexford town. Originally called the Cedars Hotel, businessman Micheal Heffernan has done an amazing job transforming Coast into a hive of activity with a beautifully designed bar with bar food and nightly entertainment in high season. There is also a restaurant which closes at 20:00 hours (although that may change) There is a small coffee shop with seating outside located beside a beautiful fountain where we had a cream tea before we departed for Dublin. Coast can also offer a Prosecco afternoon tea. The hotel is family/child friendly with facilities for disabled guests.

We really enjoyed our stay, found the staff very friendly. Paul Newman, the operations manager, took time out of his busy schedule to have a brief chat as we were sitting outside in the coffee shop area. I would highly recommend Coast for a short or long getaway. It is so central to everything especially if you don’t drive. Coast also caters for weddings, communions and confirmations in their large function room. There is a sister hotel in Kilmore Quay, Wexford 00353919148641)which opened last year but I did not get a chance to visit on this occasion. I will be back for sure.
