I have visited Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands many times and generally love to just relax by the pool. On this trip I decided to check out the Beach Club & Spa in Amadores after hearing the footballer David Silva had invested in a large expansion project in the area.
Amadores Beach Club is located in a beautiful setting overlooking the sea, tucked away at the end of the Amadores Beach just past the Gloria Palace Hotel and a short walk from Puerto Rico. When I arrived feeling rather hot and bothered I was pleasantly surprised and was glad I left the comfort of the busy swimming pool area at the hotel!
It is very well equipped with a number of facilities including –

You don’t need to bring much with you , just your sun factor and shades. On arrival beach towels are available to hire and the deposit is refunded on departure. There is also a great beachwear shop on site and I treated myself to a long overdue bikini that offered a 20% discount that day. They have a great selection to choose from. I noticed an ice cream stand just outside the shop which I was glad I hadn’t noticed on entering. The bikini is quite a nice fit! Most importantly for those that cant switch off WiFi internet access is available.
From the time you arrive serenity sets in ! I could feel myself unwinding almost immediately and was very comfortable without the crowds one normally finds at the hotel pool. I chose the large beds facing the sea and boardwalk. There was plenty of room and each one comes with a large umbrella and small table. A Cristiano Ronaldo look alike arrived much to my myself and my companion’s delight and gave us a buzzer to order drinks/food. I never had to leave the comfort of the large sun beds.(check directly for current hire rates) The restaurant menu choice is excellent and they also offer a children’s menu.
I would advise getting there early from 10.00 am onward or possibly booking in advance. Make a full day of it and chill out in the clean, and luxurious surroundings. I’m glad I did and was surprised at how busy it became. An important point to remember is that they run various promotions during the week. The one I missed out on was an offer of 2 bottles of Moet Chandon for price of 1! So check that out if you are planning to go and fancy some bubbly as you soak up the sun.
There are also Cabanas in a private sectioned off area with a private pool and terrace available to rent for the day. A great idea if you had a large party or children. These come with TV/DVD, large sofa, lounge chairs and bean bags. Included in the hire is a bottle of Moet Chandon and a Heineken bucket on ice. It would be advisable to book this in advance and check directly for current rates.
I found it the most relaxing day of my trip and will definitely return. With every facility on site I would highly recommend a visit and why not treat yourself to a bottle of Moet as you relax in sunny Amadores, Gran Canaria.
By the way they can also cater for weddings and events – a great location.
